Yuletides at Agecroft Hall
Sunday, December 11 2011, 12:30pm - 5:00pm

Experience the Christmas season at Agecroft Hall from three different eras: England in 1640, London in 1850, and Richmond in 1944. This year’s open house will feature characters and entertainment from different time periods in Agecroft’s past. Storyteller Pamela Bomboy will be here this year, potraying a woman living during the World War II era, telling stories and singing songs as they would have done then. Charles Dickens will again be here to do a lively reading from his classic A Christmas Carol.  Father Christmas will be ready to hear your Christmas wishes. He’ll also be there to pose for pictures, so bring your camera! You’ll meet people from England during the time of Dickens, and be able to help them put up decorations and join them for period parlor games. Inside the house, you’ll be introduced to the family and servants that lived at Agecroft during Elizabethan England as they prepare the house for a holiday feast. In the 1940's Williams Library, you’ll be able to see a Christmas cocktail party like one that would have been held in Virginia during World War II to honor brave servicemen and women. The lively entertainment will include a Victorian shadow puppet show, Signora Bella performing her daring acrobatics, the More or Less Morris dancers performing their thrilling dance numbers,  and a choral performance by the Godwin High School Madrigals. For a hands on experience, there will be craft activities so you can make and take a little piece of Agecroft home. We’ll have holiday refreshments available for you from the special Christmas Sweet Shop to enjoy as you stroll the grounds.
