Christmas- So Hallowed and Gracious a Time: Holiday Preparations at Agecroft Hall

 Meet Simkin, the House Steward at Agecroft Hall, as he prepares for Christmas; a time of merriment and misrule! During the holiday season, the household is preparing for two balls: one for the gentry family and guests, and one for the servants. The steward is responsible for the details, from hiring staff to making sure the food is just right. John White, a UK based performance historian, brings Simkin to life in Agecroft’s Great Hall. 

John White, Historical presenter: John S. White (BA Hons – History & War Studies, MA – Heritage Management, a Fellow of the International Napoleonic Society, and a Fulbright Fellow at the University of South Carolina) is a UK based ‘Performance Historian’ who, as the proprietor of ‘Select Society’ (a company that specializes in historical interpretation), has appeared at numerous museums, historic houses, castles, and other heritage, educational, and corporate venues across the UK (including properties administered by the National Trust, English Heritage, and Historic Scotland). In the US, he has appeared, in various of his guises, at both Colonial Williamsburg and at Jamestown.
