Special Focus Tour: Treachery & Treason (Joint Tour with John Marshall House)
Time & Location
About The Event
Enjoy two unique Treachery & Treason tours on Saturday, November 2nd. Explore the true stories of: John Marshall and the Aaron Burr Treason Trial of 1807 at The John Marshall House during the day and then an evening candlelight tour Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder plot of 1605 at Agecroft Hall & Gardens.
In Shakespeare's England, a group of religiously oppressed English subjects plotted to overthrow the monarch with gunpowder laid under the House of Parliament. Are these citizens, including Guy Fawkes, given the protection of the Magna Carta and a trial? Or are they presumed guilty and denounced as traitors to the crown? Does treason have any relevance to our lives today?
Tours at Agecroft Hall & Gardens are offered at 5:00pm, 6:00pm, and 7:00pm. Tours are suitable for ages 12 and up. Refreshments and lively conversation served after each tour. Visitors are responsible for transportation to both sites.
