Winston Churchill famously said, “Wars are not won by evacuations.”  Nevertheless, one could argue that the evacuation of Dunkirk from May 26-June 4, 1940, was an event that so engaged the imagination of the British people that nearly every citizen faced subsequent assaults and sacrifices with a heartfelt determination to “do my bit” to save the country.

Join Dr. Nancy Parrish for an engaging illustrated talk on the “Miracle of Dunkirk” and the way Winston Churchill was able to use this near-disaster to inspire the spirit of his nation to resist the Nazi threat.

Dr. Parrish is the author of "The Downton Era: Great Houses, Churchills, and Mitfords."

Fee: $15 per person
